Background
The estuary of Touqian River is a tidal river section. The old port, located in the channel between section 2 and section 5, is often being flooded. Thus, an overall estuary planning is required to improve the capability of channel conveyance especially between those sections. By evaluating various feasible solutions, it was decided to relocate the old port which was considered to be the most appropriate project. According to the decided project, the treatment measures including constrain and divert the flood.

Treatment measures
1. Flood control project (the sketch of flood control project is shown in Figure 1.)
  1. The deployment of spur groin from section 1 to section 5
  2. The diversion work for diverting the flood in the upstream of the old port.
2. River dredging from section 2 to section 6.
