The Basin Environmental Intelligence Map Basic GIS Map Package integrates government open data, public geographic information, shapefile datasets, and WMS/WMTS web map services into a GIS data package and project file. It is designed to help users quickly access and use spatial information related to river basins, environmental conditions, land use, ecology, geology, transportation, and administrative boundaries.

Data Contents

The package contains 83 GIS layers, including 63 physical spatial data files, 4 WMS services, and 16 WMTS web map services. These layers are collected from multiple public agencies and open-data platforms.

Major data sources include the Water Resources Agency, Geological Information Services, Agricultural and Ecological Data Platforms, National Land Surveying Map Services, Historical Map Services, Transportation Open Data, Environmental Open Data, and Local Government Open Data.

By integrating these layers into a ready-to-use GIS project, the map package reduces the time required for data collection and preparation. It helps planners, engineers, researchers, and public agencies conduct basin-scale review, environmental analysis, and river management planning more efficiently.

How to Use the Package

Users can place the Basic GIS Map Package folder in the required directory and open the project file with compatible GIS software. Basic GIS operation skills are required. Users should also ensure that their computer has internet access when using web map services such as WMS or WMTS layers.

Software Requirements

The package can be used with common GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.

For QGIS, users may download and install the software from the official QGIS website. The Long-Term Release version is generally recommended for operational use because it is designed for stability and long-term maintenance.

For ArcGIS, users should install the appropriate licensed version according to their operating system and organizational requirements. System requirements may vary depending on the version of the software.

Recommended Hardware

For smoother GIS operation, users are encouraged to use a computer with the following recommended specifications:

  • Multi-core processor
  • At least 8 GB of RAM
  • 24-bit color display
  • Screen resolution of 1024 × 768 or higher
  • Sufficient storage space for GIS data and project files
  • A graphics card suitable for map display and spatial data visualization
  • Stable internet connection for web map services
