The mission of Current Meter Calibration Laboratory(CMCL) calibrates cup-type current meters of the Water Resources Agency of Ministry of Economic Affairs and all the subsidiary organizations. The laboratory was built in 1976, equipped with electric calibration cart. In 2001 it has updated into wireless-control calibration cart and has been operated since then (shown as Figure 1).

Since 2007, the calibration of cup-type current meters has been accredited by the Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF) as a calibration laboratory (Accreditation No. 1707). The accredited calibration range is from 0.3 m/s to 6.0 m/s.
In response to the increasing use of handheld surface velocity meters in recent years, the laboratory began establishing a circular flume (shown as Figure 2) in 2023 to calibrate handheld radar-type surface velocity meters. This calibration service has also been accredited by TAF. Starting from April 30, 2025, the laboratory will officially offer calibration services for handheld surface velocity meters, with a calibration range of 0.3 m/s to 8.0 m/s.
