The CWB issued a sea warning for Typhoon Lupit at 14:30 today (4th) and the TD northeast of Taiwan can potentially intensify into a mild typhoon. WRA Director-General Lai Chien-Hsin convened a flood prevention video conference at 10:30 in the morning to remind the colleagues to stay vigilant in terms of eastern Taiwan's typhoon preparedness. He also instructed them to recheck various flood prevention measures and obtain the latest typhoon-related information to be prepared for the typhoon.

The 9th River Management Office Director Hsieh Ming-Chan indicated that there are 63 flood prevention warehouses throughout the office's jurisdiction that are stocked with sufficient flood prevention equipment, machinery and materials. These include 32,010 concrete blocks, 16,200m3 of boulders, 2,185 sandbags and 290 FIBCs.

According to the 9th River Management Office Director Hsieh Ming-Chan, besides Typhoon Lupit, we must also keep an eye on the TD northeast of Taiwan and the impact of swells. For key levee protection areas and flooding hotspots in the office's jurisdiction, the 9th River Management Office has applied proprietary smart river surveillance and early warning system to stay vigilant and ready. Due to the expansive territory of Hualien, 170 flood prevention volunteers along the riverbanks within the office's jurisdiction are also standing by to help monitor the water information and report disasters that have occurred.

The 9th River Management Office once again reminds the public to clean up their surrounding gutters and balcony drainages before the typhoon arrives. They can also obtain the latest information from the WRA app, disaster prevention information network (http://fhy2.wra.gov.tw) and disaster and drought prevention Facebook fan page. God helps those who help themselves, the more you prepare, the less disaster damage you will suffer.
