The Fourth River Branch has long been dedicated to the construction and management of hydraulic engineering projects within its jurisdiction. In recent years, it has actively promoted an ecological check mechanism, integrating ecological conservation principles into all stages of engineering—planning, design, construction, and operation. This ensures that while achieving riverbank safety, the health of river ecosystems and biodiversity are also effectively maintained.

Ecological check is a crucial step for hydraulic engineering to move towards sustainable development. In promoting this initiative, the Fourth River Branch not only follows central policy guidelines but also incorporates local characteristics. Through preliminary ecological environment surveys, ecological impact assessments, development of ecological conservation countermeasures, and ecological monitoring during construction, the branch ensures that the environmental impact of projects is minimized.For instance, in the " Overall Environmental Improvement Project for Nancingshueigou Creek Cingsiou Bridge Downstream "an ecological impact assessment was conducted to identify ecological issues within the work area and formulate relevant ecological conservation measures. A pre-construction conference was held to inform the engineering team about these measures. During the project, natural springs were discovered at the toe of the slope. The engineering design incorporated a diversion to create small ecological ponds and ditches, establishing microhabitats for aquatic animals and water sources for wildlife. Ecological engineering methods were employed, such as laying riprap on the slope to create porous spaces. Through public participation and communication, native plants were selected, balancing the needs of local residents with ecological restoration. During construction, ecological monitoring and random inspections of ecological conservation measures were carried out to ensure their implementation and prevent habitat destruction.

The Fourth River Branch will continue to deepen its ecological check efforts, refine technical research and development, and enhance personnel training. We will also strengthen cooperation with local communities and ecological groups to jointly contribute to the conservation of aquatic ecosystems.
